Moving Image With Glen: Music Video

I have been thinking of ideas for a music video that i have planned for quite a while now and these are some visual examples of how i want to do a music video using the moving image room in our M.I.T building.

Me and my brother have worked on a song together but we really didn't have any ideas on how we are going to do our visual. So then i took the chance to tell him about the moving images at MIT.

Eric Bellinger- Kiss Goodnight Feat. Kid Ink

I really like this part of the music video only because the women shows a lot of power in this part and for the song that me and my brother is doing, its all about the women.

I like the look of this because it shows volume and space that i could use for my music video.

The lighting in this video is very unique, panning and adjusts to suit the mood of the music. Effects in this music video the director has made a decision to keep it Black and White.Im thinking of doing the same but changing it up and having colour for the main scenes and black and white for the scenes that the girl's are in. there are some simple transactions such as cross dissolve and fade.

Moving Image With Glen: Experiment

Cutting & Editing

In this video i was gathering all the experiments that we got from our class task and decided to make a short video working on different effects.

Cutting and editing the footage that me and my peer shot during the day. I also edited this in adobe premiere which i am still learning the basics on editing but there is always a start.

I also have a scene where i reversed the video in 21 seconds of this video and i really like the effect of it. Its like rewinding time and showing the viewer what just happen.

Moving Image With Glen: Experiment

In this video i'm working on different techniques i could use for a music video. The background music is also done by me and edited through adobe premiere.

This video is just a example and test on how i would edit a music video for my brother who is in this video.

Because his artist name is 8flame i added the flames in the top and bottom of the video to show the viewer that he is being unique and original.

Ive been experimenting in the effects side of premiere and i am still trying to learn about the program and how i can get the most out of it.

Moving Image With Glen: Analyse 2

In this video i will be analyzing a song from lily Allen - Sheezus that is done and edited through Adobe After Effects. Directed by RUFFMERCY that works around effects and gave me a reason to analyse this video.

Source:
I got this video from youtube and recently looked at it and thought that it deserves to be analyzed.

Byline:
In this video lily Allen is just basically lip syncing the lyrics but the main purpose of this video is the effects made with Adobe After Effects and to me that is unique and good to watch a video that is focused on this.

Theme:
The video is called Sheezus that is the female version of "Jesus" assumed by the lyrics that is said in this video. But the effects is close to a Candy skull a Mexican Way of celebrating Death.

Structure:
The start of this video there is not much effects except the colour changes and added effects to the eyes but as the video goes through to the end the effects start to get intense.

Camera:
There isn't much camera angles in this video but is focus mainly on the effects to impact the song that is in the music video. This footage looks like it was shot in the studio. and just basic footage but then put in Adobe After Effects to edit the Visual.

Moving Image With Glen: Analyse 3

In this music video i will be analyzing most of the camera techniques used in this video by Ty Dolla $ign- Or Nah featuring a few music artist in the industry Directed by Ryan Patrick

Source:
i got this video from youtube looking at the new songs that Ty Dolla Sign released. This song came across as i am wanting to do a music video similar to this one.

Byline:
The director of this music video Ryan Patrick focuses on emotion and likes to capture that though his moving image. By that it makes the video more intense even though it isn't busy but it does contain a invisible voice that is shown in the video. The byline of this video is based on questioning Yes or no but in a slang that is put in the term "or Nah"

Theme:
The theme for this music video is having the musicians singing in one scene then putting it together with girls that connect to their lyrics.

Structure:
the structure of this video is based on the order of the music artist. and just follows by but if you look at the structure of this then you will notice that the girls are in the scenes more as the song ends.

Camera:
Camera angles in this video is based on the slow zoom in. From the angles in the start of this video. a lot of panning and trucking to suit the music. Making it slow motion from the camera to make it smooth and give it a relax feeling.

Moving Image With Glen: Interview

Interview

For this exercise i interviewed Leo and asked him what he done over the weekend by using the camera and the sound equipment. Before i asked him questions we were running tests to make sure that his voice is at its best. I achieved this by asking him to hold the mic and we went through what he was going to talk about.

What Worked?
Asking him to help me out by holding the microphone and getting me to observe the meter so he doesn't go over.

What Didn't Work?
For me and him to try and get this done, It took us over 5 or 6 attempts at achieving this. But at the end we did get it done and it will be easier to do it next time

What Next?
Next time i will write out questions for the person that i am interviewing. Make sure that i have all equipment ready to use in the work area that i am using.

Moving Image With Glen: Analyse

In this Post I'm going to be covering most of the camera angles and techniques used in this music video by Ty Dolla $ign directed by Jonathan Andrade

Source:
I came across this video on youtube and the camera techniques captured my attention.

Byline:
Music Artist that is explaining and questioning how many girls can he take home tonight but put in other words like "Cabana" indicating that he is talking about the specific culture.

Theme:
there is not much scene in this music video, but using him in most of the scenes with females around him.

Structure:
This Music Video could have been placed and edited in a particular way but researching on the director "Jonathan Andrade" in his videos he likes to have little glimpse of females in the video but focusing more on the artist in it.

Camera:
Most shots in this music video is mainly close ups with a few effects followed, Ghosting is a effect which shows trails of the object that you wish to apply too, portraying that the object with this effect looks intoxicated. In the close shots in the video the editor and director work on focus. where they have a Shallow depth of field so the object is the main thing you would look at.

Moving Image With Glen: Experiment Week 2

Experiment

These are some experiments that we had done today. Experimenting on ISO and Aperture. We tried some different lens to test out for the situation such as outdoor ND Filter and Indoor focusing on Shallow Depth of field.

Moving Image With Glen: Memory

Memory#2

This Video is based upon my friendships that i have with the people in this video. It was just last week the 2nd of August 2014 where i started working on my second memory video. This video means a lot to me only because i got a chance to give back to my friends and give them something they could have as individuals.

On the Friday i took some footage of the birthday boy and friends at home, followed by our way into town. Now the roof top that you see in this video is a place where we have been growing as friends and family.

I used Adobe Premiere to cut and edit the whole video. By using the camera techniques to achieve some of the effects in this video. Ive done a lot of cutting and its benefit me a long the way of my journey.

What Worked?

Getting all the boys together for this video and getting a lot of footage to edit and cut to make sense in the video.

What Didn't Work?

Looking At the different types of shots that i could of used in this location, more close up on the object.

What Next?

Working on a short film that will demonstrate more about my friends and why i am with them today.

Moving Image With Glen: Memory

Memory#1

This Video is based on the upbringing of my only Nephew "Xavier Drake Ahiwaru". What inspired me was that i never took notice on how old he was getting so i decided to do some research and locate some of the videos that we took of him along the years. I found a few and pictures also, i Looked on you tube for a music track to play in the background and help capture the audience

So i used Adobe Premiere to cut and edit the good parts for this video. I'm really happy with the outcome of this video and i attend to do this until he turns twenty one.

This video has made me really treasure all the good times and all the blessings. And my Nephew is surely gods gift to our family.

What Worked?

Was Getting all the videos that my family got together along the years

What Didn't Work?

The Camera angles weren't as steady as i wanted them to be and some of the videos the ISO or camera quality didn't help me that much.

What Next?

I will be working on getting some better footage of my nephew and will strive to make it more accurate and gather a lot memories as i go.
