Moving Image With Glen: Final Video

This is my version of the final video and really happy with the outcome. Just found out that we only had to edit one scene but before knowing that i had finish the whole video but it is okay because i had heaps of fun doing the editing and also adding the sound track that i made in the party scene.

The track played when Gus enters the party is a track called "Party" from Barbershop boi a music artist that is very close to me and i also sing with him in a few songs.

What Worked?
I really enjoyed editing this video and i will consider doing more edits in the near future to master the program Adobe Premiere.

What Didn't Work?
I found it hard to add the sound effects because i was using the built in speakers from the pc. And the outcome of the sound wasn't really good but i am still happy with it.

What Next?
Next time i will experimenting more with the cuts and edits to make the transaction more smooth and make every scene balanced with what i want to show the viewer

Moving Image With Glen: Week: Editing

Editing

This is the final week and i am going through the footage that we shot on week 8 and i have to say i am really proud of our class for achieving something that i didn't imagine doing this semester. I would like to thank the lord for giving us a chance at getting this done and to glen and the organization for giving us this chance to change lives and really show everyone that there is a way out.

I am going through some last minute touches and making sure that it flows well and goes together. the most challenging thing for me was the scene where Evelyn's friend was sexual abused. The only reason was that it took me a while to accept the fact that this really happens in most of the youth in our communities

I used Adobe Premiere Cs6 to edit the footage and i was really happy with the outcome of the clip. putting the sound in was a different experience but it was good to try something new.

What Worked?
I have done a lot of editing in the past and it was good to finally use my skills to edit a short film.

What Didn't Work?
For me personally i found it hard to try and use the sound recordings. Putting them into Premiere and mixing was a challenge for me.

What Next?
Next time i will use a good sound system to achieve a good sound mix that will balance both film and sound for the video.

Moving Image With Glen: Music

Music Idea's
This post is all about the music that i would use when it comes to editing day.

This is my Soundcloud profile where i put my music that i have done and music that i am interested in.

This other image is my music group that i am recently with and i have been for the past 4 years now. Just thinking of putting one of the sound tracks in for the party scene.

What Worked?
It was good looking at some of my own songs so it wouldn't harm me in the future and also getting recognized for using my own songs when the whole video is finished.

What Didn't Work?
Most of my songs are not really suitable when it comes to lyrics because my style and what i sing about wont really benefit the scenes.

What Next?
I am working on a track that i will be making for the party scene and hopefully it will make the scene stand out.

Moving Image With Glen: Screen Shots of Video

Screenshots

The following images are from the shooting day, It was a good turn out and it was a good chance for me to see what angles and ways i could get the most out of the scenes.

What Worked?
Looking at what i can see right now i really think that the cast and production team done a good job on this video but for me is more about getting the angles right and following the shot list that was prepared weeks before shooting.

What Didn't Work?
There weren't to much things that didn't work but thinking about one would be the kitchen scene where Gus and his friend is talking if i had to go back to shooting day i would suggest to add the party lights to balance the transition but overall i changed the mood from the party scene to a more focused scene.

What Next?
I would go to the locations and work on my shot list so when shooting day comes the scenes, cast and production team will work smoothly.

Moving Image With Glen: Location #2

Location #2 (Party House)

The second location was really interesting and it help to get more ideas that we could use for the party scenes and also the scene where Evelyn's friend gets Sexual Abused. We someone who asked their family member for a location and because they were moving out it all made sense that we should use this location in Manurewa.

This area is used more in the party scene. It is more like the dance area where Gus and Evelyn interact in the start of the party scene.

This is the other side of the lounge area that we used for the dance scene. on shooting day the walls were covered to give the room more depth.

This hallway is used when Gus first comes into the party and also when Gus is going to the toilet in the end of the video.

Just another angle of the party scene

This is when Gus Looks into the room and sees Evelyn's friend that gets sexual abused.

This is the kitchen scene where Gus and his friend is talking and where the three guys are taking shots with Evelyn's friend.

What Worked?
It was a good location because it was a big house to shoot the scenes that we needed to make the party scene everything weren't really well and i am happy with the outcome

What Didn't Work?
The only downfall to this location was that rooms were too big and getting the lighting to balance the scenes but overall had to experiment on the lighting and color schemes.

What Next?
The next thing to do will have to use every single space of the house to make the scenes look full with extra's and objects to fill in those areas.

Moving Image With Glen: Location #1

Location #1 (Gus's House)
The first location that the producers gathered was from a classmate that wanted to help us with this short form video. the house was located in Orakei in Auckland and it was a good house to work in

This is the first scene in the video (Bathroom) where Gus is getting ready to go out but he has to sneak through his dad that is watching TV downstairs

(Bathroom Scene)

These stairs weren't used in the house scene only because the time frame that we had planned at the location.

This scene is where Gus gets the alcohol and puts into coke bottle to water down the hot bottle (Jim Beam)

This scene is used for the lounge part when Gus checks if his farther is still up.

 Hallway into lounge (Not used)

The Last photo in this post is Gus's room which is used in the end of the video where Evelyn appears in.

What Worked?
The location was perfect for our script knowing that we did the script before looking for a location. I enjoyed the area.

What Didn't Work?
The only down fall for me was the space that we had to shoot in but besides that everything was fine.

What Next?
Shooting in different locations gives the video more depth and going to these locations really gave me a way on thinking what will help and benefit what i want the scenes to look like.

Moving Image With Glen: Week 4

Script

Week3

In week three the class was given a rough script that we went through and it was still getting worked on so i opened it up in Google plus to try and extend and clean up the script by adding a draft "Shot List"
This link will take you to the first script in week3

Week 5

A long the weeks the script was changed a bit and put into right order but not including "Train Scenes" Just skipping straight to the party from Gus's house. The new script is more understandable and easy to follow when creating a shot list for the short film.
This link will take you to the final script.
