Building Image With Frances: Illustrator.Mundo

Jillian Tamaki

Jillian Tamaki is a illustrator is living in Brooklyn NY, she grew up in Calgary Alberta and graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2003. She is Currently teaching in the illustration department of the school of Visual Arts.

I like illustration because its nice and simple. Using just black and grey making it look really Powerful

This reminds me of experimenting an explosion. I like how their is smoke in the air, the usage of less colour just black and grey. The outline looks like earth but put in a creativity way.

Building Image With Frances: Stencil Artist

Banksy "Graffiti Street Art Legend"

I researched some of Banksy's work and i love that this stencil artist uses what we see in our daily lives and turns them into something special. I like that most of banksy's stencil work have meanings to every one of them. To me banksy will be a good example of a stencil artist.

Building Images With Francis: Steve Lovett Images Building Photos

This Photo just inspired me on how people use photo shop. I like how the artist took away the main features of  a person and got something really weird but perfect. Without the eyes and mouth you wouldn't know what the person would be thinking or feeling and this image shows nothing of those.

I never thought it was Barack Obama merged with someone else. This idea i had in my head not thinking that photo shop could achieve this until now. Learning new skills that i can practise to better myself in what i want to do. This photo is perfect only because it is clean work and you find it hard to tell what is her features or his.

This is so unreal that people are doing this on photo shop. Having to take the photo of Kim Kardashian and then editing the way it looks to make it better. No one should have to change the way they look only because there is slightly something that isn't like every other person.

Lens With Rebecca: Self portraiture: Before And Now

Research:

My self portraiture is based on "Before and Now" And i had a good idea of going Back to my roots and research photos of my hometown. I'm from Paeroa also known as Lemon and Paeroa, so Ive been looking around the web and i came across a website which gives me enough information that i need.

Belmont Road, Paeroa- 1912
I like how there is a horse in this image, only because it portrays how old this picture is. For my project im going to add the old look maybe think about if i want it in black and white.

Normanby Road, Paeroa -1906

Present

I love how the Paeroa transformed along the years with no roads and horses as transport until having McDonald's as a Restaurant. I am honoured to be from such a beautiful place and it is a good chance to research where my family began to make there journey to Auckland.

Lens With Rebecca: Experiment

Panoramic

how i did this?
  • Rebecca Gave me a task to complete a panorama photo
  • I got Chas to help me because i wanted to be in the photo
  • She took four images and i returned back to the lab
  • I watched a tutorial on youtube to guide me through this image.
  • I played around with the Levels and making it stand out more
  • Then i saved this photo as a JPEG then put it onto my blog

What worked?

  • The tutorial helped me out and guided me through to help me achieve what i wanted the image to look like.
  • Having a friend to take the photo because if i take the photo then i make it how i want it to be but if someone else does it gives me more imagination on what to do.

What didn't worked?
  • If you look closer to the image you will see some lines. I tried merging and cleaning it up but it didn't work, its part of me learning though next time i will achieve this part of the exercise.

Building Image With Frances: Individual Project

Brainstorm

I've been thinking of what to do for this project and what more can i say i love the art of tattooing in every way so therefore i am doing my project based on tattooing. Before i decided on what i wanted to do i was thinking of music only because i have a passion for singing and i usually write songs once in a while. But then i wanted to push myself and try to explain how i see tattoos from my view.I can relate to this because i have a few and they mean so much to me even from the smallest tattoo to the biggest one. I love the fact that tattoos go with you when you die, it makes it that special that you will always remember that moment forever. In this project i will explain to you on what are my most memorial tattoos. my journey on how i became a tattoo artist and a few highlights that i would never forget.

  1. For the cover page i was thinking if i should just have a simple word followed with photos of me in the back of the headline to show the viewer who the author is. But then i had an idea of me in the front cover with the word, just like the tattoo magazines you would find in your local stores.
  2. In the second page i have decided to make a profile of me and my tattoos followed with short stories about myself, so i could connect with the person who is viewing.
  3. The next two pages i had ideas on making a journey from when i started from 2010 till now. Having photos of me doing tattoos and why i do tattoos, because if i can explain what i have been through and how i have grown from the things that i achieved along the years.
  4. Photos of my tattoos that i have done and Highlights of my tattooing.
  5. Same as page 4 displaying my tattoos etc.
  6. For the last page i wanted it to be special, Having quotes that i researched along the way. And a few words to the people who inspired me and made me that tattoo artist i never thought i would be today.

Lens With Rebbeca: Reaserch - Before and Now

Research
Brainstorming Ideas

I'm thinking of doing my self portraiter similar to these photos "Before and Now". I like how they recreate the exact photo using the same angles and position in these photo. What made me want to do this is because i love the vintage look on new and old photos. I have a few photos that i want to recreate based on me and my brothers photos.

i love the fact that the familys in every single photo have to come together and take these photos, for me thats something special.

This photo caught my attention because my photos that i want to do is similar to this photo with the three sisters. I like how its black and white on both photos. I like how they have the same clothes and the same pose.

This photo was taken a while ago when my mother was 21, so roughly around 22 years ago. I like how me and my brother are in this photo was how he puts his hand out slightly looking blur. I like how in the middle because this work is based on me it shows in the photo.

I like how the corners are cut in this photo, I laugh everytime i look at this photo because it looks like they had to wave around a toy around so they could take a decent photo of us two. But what makes this photo special to me is that my brother has his hand on my shoulder and to me that shows how close we are.

Building Image With Frances: Expect The Unexpected

This small art work stole my attention as soon as i saw this. Its so simple but very effective, and i love how you can look at this and you already have a fair idea on what it means. its funny how the artist created this, Just using a pen to draw a horse and followed by a fly is truly a good example using simple things to create great things.

I like how the artist of this work used characters that he made from his own state of mind to put in this art work. Using just black and grey to potray something like a cartoon. where the photo above looking like a love story where he found his love from serching everywhere around the forest.

Just like the first art piece this was perfect aswell. I like how he used just two materials to accomplished this work. It looks like there laying out in the sun without a worry. By using a pen to draw the outlines around the two fly's, and turning it into a simple masterpiece

RRaw With Cassandra Week 1b Exercise 2b 27/2

Describing Image

The Green represents the nature of life and how its like a rotation that would never end. From the plants to the fine colours used in my painting. I used this partially piece of art to show the viewer that i can explain nature through this artwork. The illusion i portrayed in this piece, was making it look like the birds are sitting on cloud, watching over more like protecting the skies. I added the birds into this art piece to compliment with the green and the black smudge making it realistic and simple. The vines were added to give the effect of nature. It would be a surprise to see what my viewers would think of this artwork.

Building Images With Francis: (Quotation)

Pablo Picasso

Back in 2008 when i was at school, my art teacher asked everyone ¨Now has anyone heard of Pablo Picasso?¨ Because i attended a maori school throughout my school years with no clue i began to research this artist. Asking myself who is this person not knowing that he is a Famous artist. Then came across a man that i didn't know which i researched along the year. From there i used Pablo Picasso´s Paintings as a guideline for me to follow and passed with excellence. The respect and knowledge that i got from Pablo just open my mind to whats possible. with his unique artistic s and creativity i began to follow his style. From then on i can answer that question my teacher asked.

¨Good Artist Copy, Great Artist Steal¨

RRaW With Cassandra: Inspirational Person (Week 2b Exercise 2 6/3)

 Jermaine (Brother)

They Say that Family will always be there for you no matter what happens or any circumstances. I will try my best and explain to you why my brother plays a big part in my life. Born April 8 1991 my beautiful mother gave birth to my only brother Jermaine Ahiwaru Tainefu. For me personally my brother has been my role model from day one, growing up as a child i found that my brother was always there for me along side my mum. My father was around at times but we wont get into much detail with him. Everything and anything that i needed whether it was money or issues that i couldn't speak to my mum about i could speak to my brother he would put down what hes doing, and take the time to be there for me. He attended De La Salle College in Mangere Auckland from the age of 11 till he graduated in 2008. As the years went by we shared the same passion for music and started writing and composing together until this day we still share that together.  He played rugby league and rugby union for his club and school where he did well and achieved what he wanted to do. Not long after that he started doing haircuts and found that he was good at it so he kept moving forward, working in barbershops all over Auckland.

Our age differences play a big part in our friendship and is the reason why we are so close. What makes our relationship so special is that we are 1 year and 8 months apart. Being the younger brother of Jermaine is a blessing that i will never forget , we have shared laughter and tears and he has saved me from near death experiences and has mentored me along the years. One morning i was home asleep and he had left for work, for some strange reason he sensed he had to return home. As he pulled into the drive way he noticed that our house was smokey and he quickly rushed inside to wake me up. So for me is questioning what if he did´nt come back, from that day forward i realized that he is not just my brother but also my guardian, and it will remain the same Forever.

My Brother is Talented in everything he puts his mind into. I would never imagine my life without my brother and that is something that i would cherish forever.

Building Image With Francis: Research: Photoshop Basic Tutorial

Lens With Rebecca: Research: Photography Tutorial

Lens With Rebecca: Deep of field, Blurry, Freezing Movement Photos

Freezing Photos:

This was achieved by Getting one of my classmates to help me get a still photo. I am still working on trying to work it out but there is always a starting point.

Deep Of Field:

For this next piece i have chosen to take a deep of field photo. Next time i will improve on presenting a better quality of the photo. I also included Samuel in this photo to show that it is a far shot.

Blurry Object
what i used to achieve this blurry object was to take a photo as low as i could go to give it height and angle. This object was on the side of the road and it captured my attention, i tried my best but the outcome could of been better.

Blur

In this Last Exercise i have once again used one of my Class mates. By Blurring everything around, and having the focus on me. what i did to achieve this photo, was to get Samuel in the photo then i used Adobe Photoshop to Blur this Image.
