Lens With Rebecca: Research: Self Portraiture

Research

I made the final decision on going for the locket for my self portraiture. Only Because i like how it looks and it is old fashion. So what im going to do is try and look for some similar clothes such as the turtle neck sweater and the white vest. Im using this photo because i like my posture, and the facial that im showing in this photo. in the next blog il show a timeline on how i went with this experiment.

How im going to achieve this photo?
  • I have to get someone to take the photo so i could have the same angle.
  • When i take the photo im going to use the same backround as this one by using photoshop, and making a extra layer over my new photo.
  • Using Photoshop again to make the photo black & White to get that old look.

Ive looked through some videos on youtube on how to put photos into the locket.

Lens With Rebecca: Experimenting

 How i did this?

  • I asked a friend of mine to take photos of me.
  • Then i used adobe photoshop to merge the photos of me.
  • Rubbing out the odd lines to make it stand out
  • then fading them into the original photo

Lens With Rebecca: Self Portraiture: Research

Research

Because i am doing my self portraiture based on a old vintage look, i wanted to present it in a old fashion way that would be similar to what i am trying to achieve. I have been looking at certain frames that i could use and i am still thinking what one would be great because every type of frame that i was looking at things that make it unique.

Double Photo Frame

  • I Like how this frame doesn't need any nails and is best to be standing up just like a book
  • This could be anywhere around the house hold such as the bed side or anywhere else

Old Ornate Frames

  • I Like this Frame because if i was to present it, it would be in a A3 size but at the same time the size of the image doesn't matter, its all about the content of whats in the frame.

Vintage Old Locket Necklace

  • This last Frame is my favourite because it is portable and nice and simple

What Worked?

  • When i used what was natural with no Tools to achieve most of the images.
  • Using my imagination to explore what i see as a image.
  • Using the streets and our local community to achieve this image.

What Didn't Work?

  • Not using a tripod for steady shots.
  • Trying to achieve both points in one image.

What Next?

  • Using these three elements and seeing if i can achieve this at home.

Lens With Rebecca: Research: Self Portraiture

Dam Native
- Behold My Kool Style

Because Im doing my project on vintage i was looking for new zealand based music artist and i came across Dam Native a Maori artist who focusses on Maori issues and other political issues relating to new zealand. I like how he tells his story's through his words and his music videos.
Back in week 1 we had a class with Cassandra which we were given the task to write down and explain how you feel about the video. That is when Dam Native's Song "Behold My Kool Style" was played in front of the class. The look of his video was an old Vintage type and that is based on my Individual Project that i am doing with Rebecca.

  • I like his dress code in this video, because it relates to the story he is trying to portray
  • I like The camera Effects that were used in this video
  • The scenes in this video reminds me of a old fashion get together where they play cards Smoke Cigars.
